GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT

AugustinBerry

Dear Brother Knights:

Now that my first term is over and a new one is just beginning, many changes have come.  We have a new slate of officers taking on new responsibilities while fulfilling their regular duties as Knights of Columbus.  We must all remember that in order to support our Council, we must be active and do all that we can do for our community.  As Mary said, “My soul proclaims the greatness of our Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for He looked with favor on His lowly servant.”  We should follow in the footsteps of our founder, Fr. McGivney because he set a prime example for us.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those who helped with the food drive.  It was quite successful.  (continued on page 2)

COUNCIL COMMITTEE FORMED FOR ENSURING THE OFFERING OF THE TRIDENTINE MASS

At the July 12, 2007, Council meeting, a committee was formed under the Chairmanship of Warden Vincent Zeolla to move to get both Our Lady of Hope and St. Brigid’s to offer the Tridentine Mass each Sunday.  Members of the Committee, in addition to the Chairman include Past Grand Knight D. Bruce Malito.

If you are interested in participating in the committee’s work, call Warden Zeolla at 516-644-7538.

And please, if you are interested in having the Tridentine Mass offered in our Parishes, call  Our Lady of Hope’s or St. Brigid’s Pastor—Msgr. Richard Bauhoff (516-334-6288) or Msgr. Ralph Sommer (516-334-0021, Ext. 115), respectively.

According to Summorum Pontificum, issued July 7, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI has instructed Bishops to make the Tridentine Mass freely available in any parish that desires to have it.
